1. back seat driver      後座司機

   指坐在汽車後座，然後不斷地告訴司機該如何開車的乘客。比喻：話多又愛管閒事的人。

   【例句】：

   Well, I know what I'm going to do. I don't need a back seat driver.

   好了，我知道該怎麼做，用不著你來指揮。

2. back number     過時的號碼

   喻指：過期的期刊或出版物；過時的人或物。

   【例句】：

   This building has become a back number in design.

   這幢建築物的設計已經過時了。

3. bad egg     壞蛋

   口語中指壞人，騙子；沒出息的人，一般只用於男性。

   【例句】：

   Don't trust him; he is a bad egg.

   別相信他，他是個壞蛋。

4. beat the air      打空氣

   比喻：做吃力不討好的事，白費力氣。

   【例句】：

   To argue with him is like beating the air.

   跟他辯論簡直是白費力氣。

5. beat it      打它

   俚語：走開；滾開；匆匆走掉；拔腿就跑。

   The tall man said, “Beat it, kid. Don't stay there.”

6. better late than never      遲做總比不做好

   喻指：亡羊補牢；聊勝於無。

   喻指：有總比沒有好。

   【例句】：

8. black sheep      黑羊

   喻指：害群之馬；無用之輩。

   【例句】：

   He was the black sheep of the family.

9. blind date      盲目的約會

   是指男女雙方經過第三者介紹或安排，在約會地點的初次會面。

   【例句】：

   Bob had a blind date with Joan's friend.

10. break the ice      破冰

    原指打破冰凍的河面或湖面，以便通航。此語喻指：打破僵局；使氣氛活躍起來。

    【例句】：

11. burn the candle at both ends      一根蠟燭兩頭燒

    喻指：早晚都在工作；過份消耗體力。

    You are burning the candle at both ends.

    你耗費了過多的精力。

12. bury one's head in the sand      把頭埋在沙中

原指駝鳥遇到危險時，便把頭鑽入沙中，自己看不見敵人時，就以為對方也看不見自己。此語喻指：逃避現實。

【例句】：

It is no use to bury your head in the sand. You have to face the music.

逃避是沒有用的，你必須勇敢地面對困難。
