Kayo was born in Japan, but studied English at a private catholic school. Kayo spent a year at Jolla high school as an AFS student. She graduated from Tsuda College with a BA in International Relations.

At first she worked in the movie business, translating scripts, contracts, and so on. She has worked for Universal Studios, Disney International, Warner Brothers, etc.

Since Court certification in 1999 until today, she has provided Japanese language support to both civil and criminal proceedings, having done hundreds of depositions, trials, and arbitrations.

She has also provided simultaneous interpretations for various types of conferences as well.
