Major Earthquake in China: A Unforgettable Dream

In a dream, a major earthquake over 8.0 degrees occurred near Beijing, China.  This vivid dream had images of deaths of millions of people.  Under normal circumstances, we would not report and write about such a dream.  However, this dream comes from a person who rarely remembers his own dreams.  Will dreams predict the future?  Please contact us and let us know.

By Samuel Chong
March 6, 2010

A major earthquake occurred near Beijing, China.  Many buildings fell, and millions died.  This is a dream of Samuel Chong, a Chinese translator in Los Angeles, which came to him in the early morning of March 6, 2010.

Usually, such a dream would be forgotten shortly, and disposed as a trash in a garbage can.  However, the dream comes from a person who normally does not remember his dreams.  The images of such a dream are so vivid that we decide to write about it.

Scientifically, dreams reflect a person's daily activities and certain memories in the past.  They tend to "organize" the information that a person received during day time.  Yes, I have received information and images of earthquakes in Haiti and Chile.  Yes, I have heard about the rumors of earthquakes in a city in central China.  However, I do not remember seeing an image in which a building is falling down due to earthquake, and one in which I was inside.

Curiously enough, I decided to look up and search for dream interpretations, particularly those related to earthquakes.  One website, with many advertisements of psychics providing readings, declare the psychological meaning of a dream involving earthquakes as

"Something is upsetting you that has destroyed your feeling of security. You may feel that your whole world is falling apart and you 'quake with fear'. Similarly, something may be threatening you from below the surface of your awareness. This may be a repressed fear or anxiety that you have pushed underground into the depths of your unconscious."

Such nonsense.  None of it is true.

Thus, I'd like to invite the public to open a discussion on the interpretation of earthquake dreams.  In particular, have you had such vivid dreams involving earthquakes and that later earthquakes really occurred?

Please contact us and let us know.  Thank you.
